4 GE Frame 7EA gas turbines were dismantled from the USA, shipped to and installed in Kuwait. The challenging part was assessing which 60Hz equipment needed replacing or modification. This plant is the first of it s kind, ie a 60Hz machine operating in a 50Hz environment.

My responsibilities included : Generating BOP cable list and termination sheets. for the electrical contractor.
Ordering cable requirement and instrument new and replacement.
Verifying all aspect of the Gas Compressor system and Water Treatment Plant systems.
Assist with testing and commissioning.

Operational and Maintenance contract for 4 oil-fired Units 3, 4, 5 and 6. Provide technical advice and evaluation for efficient and reliable operation to sustain power generation. Lead a team of local Iraqi engineers to develop modules to provide the Ministry of Electricity personnel with On-the-job training. Ratnagiri I and II Power Plant, Ratnagiri, India know as Dabhol Power Plant. Foxboro DCS. Provide technical and commissioning support for the restart program for Block I and Block II. Involved a complete verification of the of configuration logic to the original specification, As-left condition against the revised hard copy. The plant is in shutdown mode since 2001 when Enron, Bechtel and GE pull off site.

DCS STARTUP ENGINEER


USAID Iraq Infrastructure Rehabilitation Program IIRP. Unit 5 and Unit 6 are over 15years old each comprising of a Siemens steam turbine and a Babcock multi-fuel oil-fired boiler. The Emersion Ovation DCS is a complete new system on a single control highway network with 10 workstations and a single historian. As the Lead DCS Engineer, I am responsible for all the loop checks queries/rectifications, logic configuration and graphics modifications, functional testing, provide operational support and on-the-job training to the local nationals. Above all I am responsible for the system integrity in view of the geographical and political situation in the country.

This is a 4 block of 1x1x1 units combined cycle power station. The DCS is a ABB Bailey INFI-90, 4 individual loop communication interconnected via 3 bridges. The Operator Interface Stations comprises of 4 RTDS real time data station servers with 4 historians servers running the all new OPERATE IT ver B1.2 .I was responsible for the overall commissioning for the DCS control system with interfaces to the GE Mark VI, Alstom P320 the Gas Compound, 500kV substation RTU and Allen Bradley PLC 5 and SLC500 systems to Final Completion.

This is a 5 block of 2x2x1 units, 3 sites combined cycle power station. Originally was with ABB Automation USA as a field service representative to troubleshoot problems with the OIS Conductor VMS consoles freeze problems after upgrade of the operating system. Later transferred to Bechtel to rechecked the DCS Bailey INFI-90 loop communication to minimise errors, set up the Sequence of Events SOE and commissioned all foreign device interfaces FDI from the DCS to GE Mark V, Alstom Advant and Allen-Bradley plc systems.

Responsible for the overall functionality of the DCS Bailey INFI-90 control system and foreign device interfaces from installation, setting of the hardware, testing and commissioning of instruments, software configuration, OIS graphics and database, system description function testing and training of client s C and I personnel.

The control system consists of 6 GEM80 programmable logic controllers plc together with a mimic layout instrumentation and alarm system. The plant can either be fully manual or controlled.
