FBN/FNC s tapeless newsroom infrastructure consists of Omneon Spectrum servers that ingest material live feeds, Content from Field Cameras and an IBM DS4800 central storage system holding more than 4000 hours of video. This server network ties in with an Ardendo digital media asset management system ARDOME.

The Ardendo asset management system allows FBN/FNC journalists to log and retain all metadata from video material ; to look at low-res proxies of the images coming in ; and to do desktop editing, create EDL s Edit Decision lists and send them to Editors for advanced editing on MAC s using Final Cut Pro.

On the play out side the Ardendo system ties in with the Avid iNews newsroom Software and Pebble Beach play-out software to control the play out ports Omneon Spectrum servers.

Major Projects :
Campbells Soup Co SAP Project : This project was undertaken to migrate Campbells Soups Companies Order to Cash application from the Mainframe environment to SAP .I involved the installation and configuration of a new server farm using LPARS on p590 and AIX 5.3. The storage was based on IBM DS8000. The production and QA servers were built on LPAR s with dedicated I/O adapters, while the test environment was built using VIO LPAR s. Installed and configured HACMP 5.3 for the Production database server, along with IBM s Flashcopy for backup and MetroMirror for Disaster Recovery.

Pepperidge Farm SAP project : Jointly managed the planning and installation of the AIX server Farm to support the SAP R/3 landscape for Pepperidge Farm consisting of Production Database and Central Instance Server, QA Database and Central Instance and 2 Production Application servers. The Production and QA Databases were part of an IBM HA Cluster. The database was created on SAN attached IBM Enterprise Storage Server.

Backup Process Creation : Implemented and maintain backup policy for the database using Tivoli Storage Manager, Tivoli Data Protection for SAP R/3, Oracle and Tivoli StorageAgent for LanFree backups.

Creation of Disaster Recovery Site : Planning, Decommissioning and Relocating hardware from the Primary site to the DR site. Coordinated with the Infrastructure team to ensure resource availability power, network.

Creation of Disaster Recovery Solution : Jointly managed the planning and execution of this groundbreaking project to create a DR solution across multiple locations. The project involved configuration and maintenance of the Disaster Recovery solution using IBM Enterprise Storage Server and PPRC over ESCON DS3 and DWDM. My role involved DR strategy design, planning, implementation, testing and validation. Recovery of the entire production UNIX environment at the Failover site, in a simulated disaster environment confirmed the success of the solution.

Server and Storage consolidation : Successfully migrated application and database from IBM SP2 and standalone RS/6000 systems to IBM pSeries 670 690 590 Consolidated storage onto IBM Enterprise Storage Server.
