Hertz operates 1 of the world's largest equipment rental businesses. The project involved enhancing the Hertz rental site and providing support tools to the customer support officers. It included providing web based tools to manage rental inventory, execute billing cycle and present reports to manage the inventory. British Telecom, U.K. Description of the project Strategic Transaction Automation Architecture STAA is an encapsulation middleware layer, acting as an interface between BT's operational support systems and both legacy CSS, COSMOSS and CAMSS mainframe systems. Apart from these, STAA is capable of communicating with 3rd party software like Eiger system's BankWizard for providing complete business solutions to end clients. As per the BT's Roadmap STAA is the strategic legacy encapsulation platform for CSS, CAMSS and COSMOSS. STAA is part of the Integration Platform of the Matrix Architecture. It belongs to Integration and B2B Program. STAA exposes back end legacy and non-legacy functionality via various access mechanisms to its clients SOAP-XML over HTTP and JMS, simple XML over HTTP and JMS etc. Applications - comprise of services which STAA presents to clients, exposed via both HTTP and JMS. STAA services are invoked by client systems which are based on different platforms and technologies like J2EE, .NET, C++, Siebel, etc. These services in turn communicate with mainframes, Oracle databases, web resources and other software.
