Freelance Computer Consultant

Provide system repair, network administration, telephone switch configuration and WAN configuration and support for small businesses in the San Antonio area. Provide 24 hour on call support for disaster recovery, mission critical applications and systems. Provide PC auditing and forensic services for private security firms and police departments in the surrounding San Antonio area.

IT Manager

Responsible for the day to day operations of the IT Department, support and repair of more than 300 computers for the public use, more than 400 computers for the support staff, telephony systems printers and other imaging devices. Developed customized applications using Access and SQL 2000. Implemented a backup strategy and full contingency plan to meet the state of Texas specifics. Managed 1 support technician and a 5 - officer security force. While employed at SER, served the function of facilities manager as well.

Working in conjunction with the Benchmark IT department, deployed the various systems needed for the daily operations of the hotel. This included assistance in the installation of the Avaya VOIP telephony system, Wi-Fi net through the entire building, PCs, servers and T1 line. While in the mid to late construction endeavor, assisted the Chief Engineer with the supervision and coordination of the electrical power wiring and installation, the supervision of various other mechanical and technical aspects of a building in the mist of being erected and various other building/technical functions as they were presented. Gain experience in the implementation of various new technologies as VOIP, Gigabit Ethernet, Dell Poweredge Servers and power connect switches, Windows 2003 Server, Vingcard door-lock system, Northwind s Maestro PMS application, Micros 9700, Avaya switches and telephony equipment.

Small business and home office custom networking solutions provider. Setup and support of various high-speed circuits and routing hardware for client base. Projects in automation, network design and documentation, emergency services, upgrade implementation/configuration of new technologies and Systems optimization.

2001 -  2003
IT Director

Installed PCs, servers and T1 line in the pre-opening sales office to coordinate future reservations efforts and planning of management and hotel guest services technologies. Worked closely with contractors and building crews to see that every aspect of the project was resolved and done to company satisfaction. Design and supervised the installation and configuration of Alcatel XM2000 Switch and Phone Consoles. Technical Lead and liaison between management, ownership and vendors to assure that only the appropriate equipment was going to be purchased and rolled out. Maintained equipment inventory and managed a $2.15 Million budget for IT services and equipment. Supervised every cabling and circuit termination and extension from the net-pop to the various closets and workgroups in the building. Repaired and upgraded equipment as it was necessary.

Basic system administration of 4 networks like Netware 3.12 and NT4. Planned and supervised the installation of a new Lucent 4780 Switch. Upgraded the Satellite link to Bass Holidex. Rebuilt and revamped existing automated task with custom application developed in VB, Access and Paradox. Supervised every cabling and circuit termination and extension from the net-pop to the various closets and workgroups in the building. Planned and supervised the installation of all new technologies into the daily operations of the hotel. These included a phone system with voice mail capabilities and multi-line access, the design and implementation of a NetWare network, Building and configuring PCs for the daily use of the business. Trained and coordinated education courses with in the hotel to show the use of technology to the employees. Also assisted the sister hotels to build their information systems departments. Other duties were assigned as needed.
