Responsible for analyzing, developing and testing the railroad scheduling system at Norfolk-Southern Corp The scheduling system is a vital part of company-wide DB2 database/data warehouse operation. The daily operations of railroad trains is monitored and scheduled through the system.

Designed and developed an adapted routing algorithm like ABC, Algorithm for Best Concourse in MVS/DB2. This ABC algorithm was a top-down design with segmentation approach. It was the best routing algorithm which will analyze the loads as a whole with all factors stored in the routing database. Then, the routing database would compare all stored factors with the physical databases to decide and select the best routes and loads in order to optimize the costs in the scope of pre-set safety standards and government regulations. All databases were stored in the MVS/DB2 databases using VSAM DASD datasets on multiple IBM 3090 mainframes.

Coded for online and batch COBOL/CICS/SQL/embedded SQL programs of the railroad scheduling system. The SyncSort utility was used throughout the entire online and batch environments

Development tools used were MVS/ISPF/JCL with supporting utilities of QMF, SPUFI and FileAid for debugging purpose..

The IBM MQ Series utility was used to interface/exchange data with other non-IBM databases, mainly, the Oracle 7 database on UNIX. All data communications were accomplished through MQ. The DB2 database acted as the server along with Oracle and Informix databases acted as the clients.

Supported the daily activities/exceptions production reporting system. Those reports were created either by ad-hoc or Crystal report. Those reports were used by the transportation division managers to monitor the results and to make managerial decisions in case the exceptions were occurred.

Went through complete SDLC with participated projects. The Y2K project was an example in such development. It started from scratch on 1997 and completed at January 1st 2000.

Analyzed and modified existing Dental Client Management software at Magnus on AS400 and MVS written in COBOL, COBOL II and CICS. This package was used by the insurance company to support all dental claims submitted by the dental offices across the country. This rule-based database is maintained to keep up with the changes of government regulations and industry standards.

Developed a GUI front end module for Financial Reporting System on Microsoft Windows platform. The Financial Reporting System used Borland Turbo C++ in a client/server environment.

Achieved the goal of Financial Reporting System to speed up the clients display of all information received from the server on AS/400 or DB2 database.

Designed and developed the underlay core engine turn-up of KnowledgeWares ADW system. The system is a rule-based AI software. The main programming language was Prolog on MVS/TSO and VM/CMS environments. The DB2 database was used as the server to store all pre-defined rules. With the help of AI language Prolog, the product was able to achieve its purpose as software development tool in generating programming codes according to various requirements and rules stored in database.

Implemented enhancement with BellSouth Billing system. The Billing system was based on PL/I. The development environment was based on IBM/MVS/TSO with ISPF. The SQL/QMF/SPUFI interface to DB2 database was used as development tools.

Assisted in testing and implementation of enhancements to mainframe projects.

Completed a resource management project at IBM-Boulder in order to trace all utilization of manpower and allocations. All raw data were stored in the DB2 databases. The main objective of this project was to extract, analyze and interpret those data. The final re-organized data were updated in new database in order to generate routine reports according to individual departments needs. The PL/I and REXX languages along SQL/QMF/SPUFI were used to access the DB2 data under MVS.

Implemented and updated all released system and application software running VSE/CICS and VM/CMS on 2 IBM 4381s at Vanderbilt University Computer Center. The VSE/CICS system was used to support all online queries from all libraries in the campus. It supported the data exchanges from other participated universities around the world.

The CICS/PL1 and SAS were the primary programming languages to support all researches on these IBM systems.
