Senior Software Engineer

HSBC is involved in Derivative business which includes trading on Options like FXOption, PMOptions and Interest Rate Derivatives like Swap among many other derivative products.

• DTP is aimed at providing Front End and Back office Trade processing using Calypso API and Sybase as Back up.

• The incoming Trades from various Third parties are Subscribed through MQ ,the incoming Trade is in the form of an XML which is parsed and after verification of the same is saved in the Back End.

• Various batch jobs are run at the end of the day to consolidate the trades.

• The Derivative products like FXOptions have huge volumetric as much as 40000 trades a day.

• From the technical point of view, the architecture of this project is based on Calypso Framework. The GUI of project is made up of Swing Components, Sybase is the back end, and XMLs are used for transferring trade messages across systems.

Role

· Extending the existing calypso framework to provide functionalities specific to the products.

· Involved in the development of end of the day feeds/jobs for FXOptions.

· Involved in the business enhancements across products and providing a generic solution to suit all the products within DTP. This involves interacting with the clients of various products on regular basis to freeze and understand requirements and to ensure its feasibility across products.

· Involved in improvement of the existing workflow rules and also writing new rules to cater to new functionalities within DTP.

· Have provided internal trainings to the team on the areas like Workflow Rules, End of the day jobs.

· Have been acting as Internal Quality Assurance to the team for more than one year now and as such have imparted trainings to the team to make sure their deliver good quality work.

Onsite Details:

· Have been onsite to HSBC London twice.

· Both the visits involved supporting DTP FXOptions release which was very successful and much appreciated by the business.

Role: As was majorly involved in the development of End day jobs for FXOptions, the visit was to ensure smooth execution of end of the day jobs and ftp’ing the feeds to downstream systems. Troubleshooting any issues with the jobs and resolving any minor/major issues with the feeds outputs. Keeping a track of the environments involved in the release (Regression,UAT,Conversion,LIVE) and engines for those environments.

Have also acted in the capacity of an onsite coordinator.
