Served as a Senior Programmer Analyst/ Senior Business Analyst in support of the EmblemHealth Claims processing system which consists of a number of supporting subsystems.

As a member of the Claims team, I developed and changed Cobol programs in a COBOL/CICS/VSAM environment to process, create and edit, ICD-9 diagnosis codes, procedure codes, facility and professional claim types, provider contracts and other codes and claim pricing and medical service preauthorization. EmblemHealth care claims cover recipients in the State of New York with the majority of claims in New York City.

Conducted unit and system tests in batch, CICS experience and CICS online adjudication processes.
Translated requirements into functional designs and technical specifications.
Conducted unit, system, acceptance and regression testing for all changes made to claims processing COBOL programs and CICS on line processing, all map definitions.

Coded several batch VSAM file conversion programs and several on-line screen programs and their associated maps. All programs were coded in COBOL II using some OS/390 features.
I unit tested all programs and assisted with customer testing. Online programs accessed IMS data bases using DL/1.

Responsible for the coding and testing ONLINE and BATCH/DB2 programs for Northern Trust s new GLOBAL SECURITIES LENDING SYSTEM.
The front end of the system consists of Power Builder screens which call for data from the back end mainframe. The mainframe program accessed DB2 tables and sends the requested data back. The batch Programs update DB2 tables and create batch reports.
I coded VSAM to DB2 program conversions.

Assigned to State of Illinois initiative to enhance the Child Support system.
Responsible for developing the CICS programs using APPC for connectivity to all the counties in the state of Illinois that have the capability to send their respective child support information to the state s system.
As the lead programmer I coordinated the effort with The Cook County child support department using its system for the connectivity tests.

Senior Programmer Analyst - Contractor
Assigned to the Claims Department as the Project Leader to design, develop and implement major enhancements to their Automated Claims Transaction System ACT. This is a CICS on-line and batch system utilizing IMS databases and VSAM files.
Responsibilities included requirements gathering, analysis, design coding, testing and debugging for a project involving the centralization of claims check processing, removing the printing of recipient s checks from agency and company offices and utilizing the capabilities of state of the art Xerox printers and Gunthger mail packaging machines in the corporate office building. This automated the process of producing checks by developing flashes or images on bank stock and placing bar coding on that bank stock.
Developed all project documentation which included program and system flow charts, unit and system test plans and the implementation plan.
Implemented the project with production support and provided assistance with any production issue that arose as a result of the implementation.
Worked in IBM S390 MVS/ESA, VSAM, IMS/DLI and COBOL environments.
